The ensuing conflict is so catastrophic that the Watcher involves himself, going against his own code. The heroes find themselves traveling to Atlantis, alternate dimensions, and finally confronting Galactus upon the Skrull Homeworld!
Highlights:
*all new RPG - not a sequel to X-Men Legends Line
* all new story
*re-designed version is set for Playstation 3 (could be a launch game) and XBOX 360: perhaps Nintendo Revolution
*over 140 different Marvel characters appear in the game (yep, ya heard that right)
*over 20 characters are fully playable throughout the game (sounds like X-Men Legends 2 start off)
*up to 4 characters to your team
*start with the 'Ultimate' skins, with a number of other costumes to be unlocked for everyone
A Trick of the Tale:
choices made and side quests taken throughout the game will result in any number of different epilogues at the conclusion of the story. Not really alternate endings, these vignettes will reveal what happened to the characters across the course of the game, depending on how ya left their sorry butts.
The Flashbacks Are Comin!:
a variation of the X-Men Legends flashback missions will return. These new flashbacks will be more frequent. There will be at least one classic flashback mission per playable character. There will also be mission sthat will let you play out major fights between a hero and his/her villain (ex. Elektra vs. Bullseye - just an example!). In addition, since a lot of these missions are for a specific hero, other players will now be able to become the bad guys in these scenarios and try to stop their friend from succeeding. Every one of the comic flashback missions can be played once you find them in the game, or you can return to the missions later in the SHIELD Simulation Room (which sounds like it acts like the X-Men's Danger Room).
Team Reputation:
Players will now be able to form their own unique superhero squad, name the squad, and improve upon them through the game. There are no restrictions on which heroes you can use on your team. The player chooses the members, the name of the team ,a nd develops the logo. Once your team is ...um..assembled and start to go out on missions, they will gain 'team reputation.' 'Reputation' acts like experience for your team. As your reputation grows, the team levels grow, and will allow you to improve the team in different catagories. You only get reputation when you play with the members of your special team, and new roster slots for others to join will open up as you progress. OR...instead of developing your own special squad, a player can begin the game with one of the classic Marvel teams from the comics (ex. Avengers) and start out with the special reputation bonuses right away.
